Year 1/2 Excursion to Mickan’s Family Farm

On Wednesday the 26th of March, Miss Bennie and Mrs Maddie's Year 1/2 students were lucky enough to spend a fun-filled CREW day at the Mickan family farm, immersing themselves in all things farming and animals. From feeding calves and collecting eggs to holding fluffy baby chicks and gathering pinecones, the students had hands-on experiences that deepened their understanding of farm life. They also learned about the different types of grains grown in our region and were amazed as they watched Tysan shear a couple of sheep.

Alongside these incredible learning moments, the day was filled with team-bonding activities and scavenger hunts, strengthening friendships and connections across our year levels. This special experience allowed our students to appreciate the land we live on and reflect on the important role farming plays in our community.

A huge thank you to the Mickan family for opening their farm to us — it was a day to remember!
