In week 1 this term, our 58 Shrek cast members were fortunate to take part in a vocal workshop with multi-award-winning singer Charlee Watt. Charlee hails from Port Lincoln and is a dedicated artist who continues to wow with her shows at Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Cabaret and Port Lincoln SALT Festival. Charlee has an unshakeable passion for live performance and her creative talents extend to jazz, rock, musical theatre and more.
Students thoroughly enjoyed learning how to physically and vocally warm up for singing, harmonising, breathing, projection and annunciation. We finished with a mass sing-along and students benefited from observing the confidence, enthusiasm and energy required for live performance.
In week 3, Charlee returned for one-on-one sessions with our leads, enabling them to gain valuable expert advice and opportunities to ask questions. We are also grateful to have some experienced local singers, in Emma Pedler, Amanda MacGillivray and Sarah Richter, who are working with students on their vocals. We look forward to seeing our whole cast develop as singers and perform with confidence when Shrek the Musical hits the CAS stage at the end of week 4 next term.
