This term, Miss McFarlane's Year 3 students have been exploring the significance of community connection and involvement, and they chose to engage with a local space in the Cummins community. They have been in touch with the members of the Cummins Community Garden to visit and understand how the garden operates, who manages it, and how various individuals utilize the space to strengthen their community ties.
Earlier in the term, they met Rosii Pedler at the garden to gain insights into its workings, discovering what is currently growing, how the plants are watered, how the garden is maintained, and how community members participate in both cultivating and enjoying the produce.
Eager to contribute, the class decided that painting stones to place around the garden would be a delightful enhancement. On Thursday, April 10th, the Year 3 students brought their artwork to the garden, finding perfect spots for their decorated stones. What a colorful and wonderful addition to the space! If you have the opportunity, take a stroll through the garden and see if you can find some of our lovely rocks.
